Getting Traction for Your Business in 2020

As the decade that gave us 21 Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the rise of Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa and the Cubs first World Series title in 106 years comes to a close, it’s natural to look towards 2020 with a renewed focus on your business. If you’re looking to take your business to the next level, look no further than EOS.

EOS is the Entrepreneurial Operating System. It’s a simple set up concepts and practical tools for running your business. We’re huge fans here at Revel. Not in a wait-in-an-online-queue for three hours for Justin Bieber tickets way, but close. How did we get here?

In the fall of 2016, we were getting ready for our leadership planning session. I’d like to say we did these every year but structured business planning was inconsistent at best. There just weren’t enough hours in the day. This turned out to be no ordinary offsite. There was nothing wrong with our company. We were working with great clients on challenging projects but we weren’t generating the type of momentum we wanted for our business.

Prior to the offsite we all read Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business by Gino Wickman and it changed the way we do business. If you haven’t read it, it’s an easy read that you can knock off over a weekend.

What happened at that offsite was transformational. We made the decision to grow Revel through our manufacturing niche. We committed to a disciplined approach to running our business through EOS.eos-modelThe EOS Model concentrates on Six Key Components of your business: Vision, Data, Process, People, Issues and Traction. It works for businesses of all sizes and industries.

Why EOS? Two reasons:

1. It’s Simple

EOS provides a clear, understandable roadmap for the current year as well as 10 years down the road. The magic is the one-page business plan or Vision/Traction Organizer (V/TO). I look at ours daily. It gets my mind centered and keeps me focused.

2. It Works

EOS gave us a clear vision. Issues are openly discussed and problems are solved. Processes are documented. The right people are in the right seats. Our marketing is more dialed in than ever. We’ve got a healthy, high performing business and we’re constantly striving to be better.

There’s no time like the present to get started making your business all it can be. Whether EOS is in your future or not, here’s wishing you traction for your business and to a prosperous 2020 and beyond.
